Goals & Getting What You Want

What’s holding you back from achieving your goals?

Close your eyes for a minute, take a deep breath, and think about your goals as a path through life.  Stuck in a stinky mud pit?  Standing on a beautiful, but lonely plateau?  Wandering in a dark forest?

Why are you where you are instead of where you want to be?

Complete the following sentence: If I had ___________, then I could do _______.

If only I had more money, more time, more knowledge, more experience… or if only my friends/family/would just be supportive… Then I could fulfill my dreams…

Here’s a secret: Money, time, approval, help… those are not the keys to happiness and success in achieving our goals.  Those are excuses we give ourselves to quit- or worse, not bother starting at all.

Happiness (and success) comes from many choices- some are large, but most are small. It’s up to you to maintain the discipline to make all the little decisions along the way that keep you focused and on track.  Truth is, happiness is a choice. It’s up to you to decide to accept yourself, along with your shortcomings and imperfections.  Luckily, every moment is an opportunity to make (or reaffirm) a new decision and although YOU do have to put in the work, you DON’T have to do it alone!

  • Do you believe (or want to believe) that you can choose happiness for yourself?
  • Do you want to live an authentic life and help others do the same?
  • Are you looking for something more meaningful than accumulating money and stuff?  (But still want to live comfortably?)
