Happiness can be an elusive thing.  There are many ways in which life is less than perfect.  In fact, life is stressful and can be downright overwhelming- even on a good day.  Demanding bosses, high maintenance friends or family members, health issues, bills/debt, bad luck- it’s easy to focus on all the things that aren’t perfect.  Life is full of them.  You don’t even have to be dealing with depravity or depression to feel ungrateful, although it can be especially challenging to find things to be grateful for, if you’re facing those types of challenges.

Quick Tips On Being Present

Why being present matters…

today is a gift

Do you ever come home exhausted?  You’ve been putting out fire after fire all day- whether it’s rushing from meeting to meeting, getting the kids in and out of the car to run errands and get to all their activities… or both.  At the end of the day, you’re tired, distracted- you come home to your messy house and you just don’t feel like doing anything.  But they (your spouse, your kids, your parents, your pets, whatever) want to TALK.  OMG.  Or worse yet, PLAY or do something involving physical effort.  How do you feel?  How do you respond?

It’s normal to have a day like that once in a while, but if you’re feeling like that more often than not, you may be experiencing a stress injury.

Close your eyes for a minute, take a deep breath, and think about your goals as a path through life.  Stuck in a stinky mud pit?  Standing on a beautiful, but lonely plateau?  Wandering in a dark forest?

Why are you where you are instead of where you want to be?
